Quick solutions to common issues

Common Issues & Solutions

This guide covers the most frequent problems and their fixes. If your issue isn't listed, contact support at support@gain-optimizer.com

🚫 Issue #1: "Invalid License" Error

Symptom: Indicator loads but shows "License validation failed" or "Invalid license key"

✓ Solution:

  1. Check that you copied the entire license key (format: GAIN-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX)
  2. Verify there are no spaces before/after the key
  3. Confirm your subscription is active in your dashboard
  4. Make sure you're using the correct platform license (TradingView vs MT5)
  5. Try logging out and logging back in to TradingView/MT5
  6. If still failing, regenerate license key from dashboard

📉 Issue #2: No Signals Appearing

Symptom: Indicator is loaded but no buy/sell signals are showing on the chart

✓ Solution:

  1. Check your Min Confluence Score setting - if set too high (>6), very few signals appear
  2. Lower to 3-4 for more frequent signals
  3. Verify the indicator is enabled on your timeframe (check settings)
  4. Make sure "Show Signals" is toggled ON in settings
  5. Try switching timeframes - M5 typically shows more signals than H4
  6. Check if you're in a ranging market (few signals during consolidation)

⚠️ Issue #3: Too Many False Signals

Symptom: Getting many signals but low win rate

✓ Solution:

  1. Increase Min Confluence Score from 3 to 5 or 6
  2. Enable Higher Timeframe Confirmation (e.g., M15 for M5 trading)
  3. Avoid trading during low-volatility sessions (Asian session for Gold)
  4. Don't trade during major news releases
  5. Ensure spread is reasonable (<3 pips for Gold)
  6. Consider using "Conservative" preset configuration

🐌 Issue #4: Indicator Loading Slowly / Lagging

Symptom: Chart freezes or updates very slowly when indicator is active

✓ Solution - TradingView:

  1. Remove other indicators - max 3-4 indicators total recommended
  2. Reduce chart history loaded (Settings → Chart → Bars)
  3. Clear browser cache and refresh page
  4. Use Chrome or Edge (better performance than Firefox/Safari)
  5. Close unnecessary browser tabs

✓ Solution - MetaTrader 5:

  1. Limit number of indicators on chart (max 3-4)
  2. Reduce max bars in chart (Tools → Options → Charts)
  3. Update MT5 to latest version
  4. Restart MT5 platform

🎨 Issue #5: Wrong Colors / Theme Not Applied

Symptom: Selected theme doesn't match what's showing on chart

✓ Solution:

  1. Remove indicator from chart completely
  2. Re-add indicator
  3. Go to Settings → Style tab
  4. Select theme from dropdown
  5. Click OK (don't just close the window)
  6. Refresh the chart if colors still wrong

🔔 Issue #6: Alerts Not Working

Symptom: Not receiving notifications for new signals

✓ Solution - TradingView:

  1. Create alert manually: Right-click chart → Add Alert
  2. Select "GAIN OPTIMIZER" from condition dropdown
  3. Choose alert type: "Buy Signal" or "Sell Signal"
  4. Set notification method (popup, email, SMS - requires Pro)
  5. Check browser notification permissions
  6. For mobile: Install TradingView app and enable push notifications

✓ Solution - MetaTrader 5:

  1. Verify alerts are enabled in indicator settings
  2. Check MT5 alert settings: Tools → Options → Notifications
  3. Test with a simple price alert first
  4. For mobile alerts: Enable push notifications in MetaTrader app

💻 Issue #7: Installation Failed (MT5)

Symptom: Cannot install .ex5 file or indicator doesn't appear in Navigator

✓ Solution:

  1. Verify you downloaded the correct file (.ex5 extension)
  2. Check file location: File → Open Data Folder → MQL5 → Indicators
  3. Copy .ex5 file to this exact location
  4. Completely close and restart MT5 (not just minimize)
  5. In Navigator, right-click "Indicators" → Refresh
  6. If still missing, disable antivirus temporarily and retry
  7. Ensure MT5 is updated to latest build

📊 Issue #8: Peak Labels Not Showing

Symptom: Getting buy/sell signals but no peak profit labels appear

✓ Solution:

  1. Check Settings → ensure "Show Peak Labels" is enabled
  2. Peak labels only appear at trend reversals (not on every signal)
  3. Try lowering ATR Multiplier to detect peaks more frequently
  4. Verify chart has enough data loaded (min 500 bars)
  5. Peak labels work best on M5-M15 timeframes

Performance Optimization

💡 Best Practices for Smooth Performance:

  • Use only 1-2 additional indicators alongside GAIN OPTIMIZER
  • Close charts you're not actively monitoring
  • For TradingView: Use Pro plan for better performance
  • For MT5: Allocate more RAM in platform settings
  • Keep platform updated to latest version
  • Clear cache regularly (weekly)
